How I Handle WordPress Site Migrations, My Personal Workflow (Part 2)

I’m back. I thought the backup upload would take only about 30 minutes, but unfortunately, it’s taking longer. I started working on it around 10 a.m., and now it’s 1:25 p.m. The file upload is currently at 80%. I didn’t expect it to take this long to upload. The customer’s site is hosted on a VPS, so I’m not sure why a 4GB file is taking so long to upload.

While I was thinking about other topics to discuss on this vlog, the progress jumped to 92.18%.

Just for comparison, I’m hosting several websites on this shared hosting account, including the test site I set up for the client, and it only took about 20 minutes to upload the WP All-in-One Migration backup file. I might just suggest they upgrade their VPS to something a bit faster… you know, something that doesn’t run on snail power.

Once the upload was completed, the rest of the process went much faster. I started by resetting the Permalinks, then went to Appearance to switch the theme back to the customer’s original theme.

Next, I went to the Plugins area and activated only Brizy and Brizy Pro, leaving all other plugins disabled. After that, I checked the site’s front-end and noticed that the layout was broken. To fix it, I opened the individual pages in Brizy and made small changes—such as adding 1px padding—then saved the pages. This triggered Brizy to recompile the affected content.

I previewed the site again to ensure all pages were working properly. However, I noticed that the hamburger menu in the top-right corner was missing. To fix this, I opened the page with Brizy, located the affected block (the site’s header), added 1px padding, and saved the page. After confirming that the menu had reappeared, I reverted the padding change and saved it again. Making small edits to affected blocks like this is a known way to resolve rendering issues in Brizy.

With everything looking good, it was time to inform the customer that the website had been successfully migrated to its new home.

Now, it’s finally time for me to head back to bed and get some sleep.
